We are a collective of millennial entrepreneurs, most of us born and raised in under-served communities of south central Los Angeles and Inglewood, CA. We know the struggles of entrepreneurship as well as the lack of resources, relatable mentors, and networks. We understand the sacrifices of time, money, and energy it take to run a business because we do it everyday. Therefore, we sought to make the process a little easier for fellow and future business owners by providing them with two things: 1) Knowledge and 2) Space.
Welcome to The Spot, the FIRST black-owned pop-up space and collective in the city of Inglewood!
Our Vision & Mission
Our goal is to provide rental spaces for small businesses, pop-up shops, artists, authors, and other potential event hosts, while working with community organizations, nonprofits, and educational institutions to further promote and cultivate entrepreneurship in the local area.
We have taken the principles of Ubuntu (I am because we are) and Ujamaa (cooperative economics) to form the vision and mission of The Spot:
"Our Community. Our Responsibility."
The Spot is a partnership between four black-owned businesses: Heirs Apparel, Kyra's Shea Medleys, Soul Generations and Woodworks Records. In our efforts to combat gentrification in the city of Inglewood and spark unity among small businesses, we came together to form The Spot.
